Ivan's Birthday

Harlo everybody,
Last Sat was my 20th Birthday (15th Sept), it was indeed a very fun day for me. It was the very first time that I was really being fooled by friends. Wei Lup came telling me that I failed my stool examination (it’s a yearly medical check-up). He keep on telling me not to be worried because there shouldn’t be any big problem, but of course I am not worried about my health, I just thought that maybe the first time I didn’t give enough, so immediately after dinner I went to get my stool collected again in a match box (the picture with me in a yellow singlet), this time with more of them in it. Until midnight, they all came telling me that it was just a prank, ishhh….. but I kinda enjoyed it, cause now at least got people can fool me not me always fooling people, hhehee……
Another surprise was on Sunday service, this is what my pastor said: “Well…..you see I always keep in touch with your parents and this morning I got an email from a parent (I didn’t know that he was talking about me).” He then starts reading: “From a Sunny Penang, Malaysia (Oh gosh, it’s about me).” My parents actually made a request that my Pastor pray for me in front of the congregation specially for my Birthday. Arrgghhh……I am ssoooooo touched, I dare not leave my head up, as tears of JOY just keep on flowing down my cheek (malu….).
Although this year I didn’t manage to celebrate mine and Evan’s birthday together again and also the first time celebrating it oversea but I am still vvvvv glad for all that have been done for me from FAMILY and friends. For the presents given to me I am really glad to receive them and will always cherish them. Thanks so very very much ;)

Amazing grace

Today’s Sunday sermon was very inspirational and encouraging ------ Amazing Grace. After the sermon, we worshipped with the song Amazing Grace also and it made me reflect back to the Amazing Grace of God in my life for the pass 10 years.

Amazing Grace

Amazing Grace how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind but now I see.

This made me reflect 10years back on Nov, 1997 at the age of 10, I personally did the sinners prayer and accepted God into my life during Vacation Bible School, by my teacher Bro. Ha. Although I was very young at that time but God didn’t make me forget that wonderful moment, the moment where He first showed me His Amazing Grace and saved me to Heaven. Since then, I started going to church on a weekly basis where church really means something to me. It was also the very year that I started to attend True Light Baptist Church.

‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!

It made me think back of my secondary school days, where I struggled with sins and God started showing me the dark side of sin, asking me to go far away from them. He (God) taught me to fear Him and be a good boy. Day by day, He put people into my life and those that I came into contact with. Using them to share to me, helping my fear towards Him to grow more and more. Those Angels at that time where Samuel Chong, Uncle Reuben and Tec Elain. The more I see myself as a worthless sinner to be saved, the more He showed me how amazing His GRACE is.

Thru many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come;
‘Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

Through many trials and temptations, God has always been very faithful to me. He helped me to trust Him even more and to put my faith on Him and now I have finally come to Russia, I believe this is the place where He had prepared me to go to for the pass years. And I believe from here is where He is going to prepare and lead me to a better future, molding and shaping me to be the man that He wants Ivan Khoo Kay L’erh to be. His grace is always sufficient for me.

The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures.

Last year, when I came to Russia for my 1st year of studies, it was full of excitement with the fear of unknown for the future. And this time before coming back it was the fear of the known that is in me (if got chance than only will share what it is). But once again God affirmed me with His promises and reminded me to trust Him but nothing else.

And when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease;
I shall possess within the veil
A life of joy and peace.

This brings me 7yeras back when I started joining my church’s family camp at Langkawi Island, joining youth fellowship and BB. Since than, my joy and peace just keeps on coming and overflowing me from within even until yesterday when it was my birthday (I’ll have a special blog for that next time, today a bit busy but still need to share God’s Amazing Grace).

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Then when we’d first begun.

I just really wanna thank God for His Amazing Grace and with the uncountable Blessings that comes together with it. I really hope that my sharing will be an encouragement to everyone of U. If you are not a Christian, then I really hope that U could give yourself, me and God a chance. Try going to a church although you might not know what to expect. To me, becoming a Christian was the best part of my life and I really pray that it will also be yours. U might not be able to trust God, but trust me, just give it a chance because U never know what will happen.

This where what that came through my mind today while I was worshipping, the images and memories where refreshing and encouraging, that’s why I wrote this blog as soon as I got back. To my readers, God Bless and Emmanuel (God with Us). I'll try to get the song and post it, or do anybody have it?

Diakonos(Greek) - Servant(English)

Today after the service, I and 3 other bros of the church were called aside, 4 in total. Our pastor is calling us to serve as deacons of the Koinonia Fellowship (the church I attend). By the way, Koinonia is a Greek word for fellowship. He gave us some Bible verses and list of responsibilities. I personally thank God for the opportunity to serve Him and also the chance given by Koinonia and my Pastor – Frank (American). My heart was beating when he told us about it, I really want to serve God more but sometimes I feel very pressure as by far I am still a junior (in age and academic years but next month got juniors coming d, hehehe…….. ). Please keep me in prayers, especially when I see the need of correction in the fellowship and also at times to be a reminder to bros and sis in Christ. Generally, my duty is like the 7 that where chosen in ACTS 6:1-7

To my non-Christian friends, Deacon is like someone who helps up in taking care the needs and spiritual life of people in church. And YES, It’s not like those in TV where they wear canggih – canggih outfit, I still wear batik. I also don’t need to be vvvvvv old in age, it’s other matters that are taken into account to be elected as a Deacon.

Please continue to keep me in prayers and my service to Him, to ALWAYS be humble before HIM and WILLINGLY to trust HIM and FOLLOW His will and plans for me.

Ivan's Summer Holiday - 2007 -

Harlo…….This video clip is dedicated to all my FnF. U all really did a good job to spice up my summer holiday, personally this was the best holiday I ever had. Apologies to God if I ever doubted that I can’t have a good time with His bros and sis in Christ.

Although being separated PHYSICALLY with friends and family for 10mths but nothing was odd when we all got together again. I am so thankful to you all that no words can express my feelings. When I came back to Russia, I told everyone about you all and what we have done together, they can’t do anything but just to be jealous of me because I have friends like you all ;)

I believe in the Sovereign Lord that He will continue to Bless each and everyone of us that through our Fellowship together His name will be Glorified. Take Care and I thank God for this second family that He had gave me. Emmanuel and May God be with us.

Journey with 'metal bird'

Well…..this time I took SIA, the facilities and entertainment on the plane was quite good, even better than Cathay Pacific. We can even fast forward and rewind the movie we watch. All in all, there were more than 100 channels including mp3s and new release movies.

However, me and my adventures trip was ruin by me trying a couple sip of ‘Singapore Sling’ – it’s a kind of cocktail founded in 1953 and now it’s a well known cocktail all around the world. That is why I was so tempted to try it, initially I thought that it was just a kind of fruit cocktail, but it ended up to be the poison the ruin my journey and I even vomited and wasted some good food on the plane (no appetite to eat). I’m sure that next year when I go back I’ll not try that again. Ramesh actually likes it and had a couple cup, so I guess that this kind of pro-alcohol gene runs in the Indian family. In this 15hrs plane journey I just manage to watch Fantastic Four and play super Mario, they really have a lot different kinds of games and we can even learn foreign languages from different software they have.

For my domestic flight, it was also my first time taking s7, it’s more spacious compared to Aeroflot that I took last year. But I guess that the pilot wasn’t so good, the way he landed make me wanna puke. All in all, this time I didn’t really enjoyed my plane journey. But anyway thank God that I arrived smoothly.
